    Event locations and venues

You type the venue name or address and choose the country. TiketCaribbean geocodes the address in the background using OpenStreetMap data and places a pin on the map; the country and island you choose drive the Country filter and recommendations. If a venue cannot be found, add a street or landmark, or use the nearest known address, and attendees can still read your text.

    What do I enter?

    • Venue / Location: the venue name and address as an attendee would type it, for example "Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain".
    • Country: chosen from the list. This is what the Country filter and Home recommendations use, so pick the country the event is physically in.
    • For virtual or hybrid Word of Mouth events, set the hosting type accordingly and put the platform in the description.

How does the map pin get there?

After you publish, the server looks up your venue text with OpenStreetMap's geocoder and stores the coordinates. This runs in the background, so a pin can take a few minutes to appear. If the text cannot be matched, the event still shows in lists with your location text; it just has no pin until the address is improved.

Tips for venues that are hard to find

    1. 1Add a street or district: "The Yard, 21 Ariapita Ave, Woodbrook" beats "The Yard".
    2. 2Use the nearest landmark or main road for open fields, beaches and pop-up venues.
    3. 3Spell the town the way it appears on maps (for example "Chaguanas", not an abbreviation).
    4. 4Put door instructions ("entrance on the side street") in the description or the Parking and Accessibility notes rather than in the address.

    Changing the location after publishing

Edit the venue from the web dashboard. The address is geocoded again and, for free events, every ticket holder is notified of the change. See Managing your events.
