“We built Tabanca LDN to give Queer Caribbean Soca lovers a space to fete freely and connect.”
Why Tabanca LDN started
At LGBTQIA+ events, Soca usually meant a short set of the same few songs. Tabanca LDN wanted a whole night of it.
We LOVE Soca. It's our culture, the music we grew up on. At LGBTQIA+ events we'd get a 10 to 20 minute set of the SAME Soca songs, and that just wasn't enough for us.”
What makes it different
Tabanca LDN throws Queer Soca events in London. Expect some Bouyon, Konpa and Zouk, but mainly Soca from across the islands.
We throw Queer Soca events in London. How often do you see Queer Soca events!?”

What keeps them going
The room itself: Queer Caribbean people and allies, together, to the songs they grew up on.
I fight off thug tears at each event. Seeing a room full of Queer Caribbean people and allies jumping up and whining to the Soca songs we love? That pride shines through, and it keeps us going each time.”

Lime & Whine
Lime & Whine, at The Florence in SE24, was a lime as well as a fete.
We love to fete, but we also love to lime. We want people to connect with others, with us, and with Caribbean culture!”
Big up the team
Resident DJ @iamchlxxe, every DJ who has controlled the vibes at Tabanca LDN, the media team @chupa_creative and @chicplaybook, and the whole Tabanca LDN team.
Without them, we wouldn't be here growing!”
