“I'm doing it for myself, I'm doing it for the Sagittarius's.”
Who Danae is
Danae Daly is from London, with both parents from Montserrat. Winter Wuk, the first NaeSpace fete, is in Islington, where Danae grew up.
I grew up in Islington, and that's where the fete is being held, which is a nice touch.”
Why Danae started
NaeSpace began with a birthday wish and no guarantee anyone else would make it happen.
I really wanted to attend a Soca fete on my birthday, but there was no guarantee that would happen. So I decided to take matters into my own hands.”
What makes it different
Winter Wuk is small on purpose, and it's the first one. The night runs through Soca era by era: old school first with Arrow, Burning Flames and Sparrow, then 2000s and 2010s Soca, then recent Soca with a focus on Grenada, Dominica and Bouyon, then Dennery, Jab and Bashment Soca.
On the decks: DJ Tate, SUPA NYTRO, DJ Plyerz, DJ Hilly and Dubstar Sound.
It's very much people-led, in the sense that the vibe will be created by the people. And I guess that is a risk as well.”

A first time
Winter Wuk is Danae's first event of any kind.
It'll be a very big learning curve for myself. I'd also like to thank my family and friends for their support, because this is way out of my comfort zone.”
