“FEVER is about the heat, the overwhelming heat of our Caribbean culture.”
Who DJ Pirate is
Mael Silbande, known as DJ Pirate, has heritage from Martinique and grew up in France. Now based in Tokyo, Mael runs FEVER, "a series of Caribbean-driven events that aims to share the freedom of our culture."
Why FEVER started
FEVER started with a move to Japan and a culture that felt far away: "When I started to live in Japan I felt a cruel lack of connection with my culture."
I wanted to provide a safe space, Caribbean flavoured, where anyone can feel welcome in our culture and any Caribbean person can feel at home.”

What makes it different
Every FEVER night has floor dancers alongside the DJs. The FEVER family includes dancers @madgyal_mimi, @machan_saki and @miss.rayne, and DJs @babyajuchan, @chihirochiba, @dj___sion and DJ Pirate.
It's always a party where you can really face the energy. It's a Caribbean outlet that allows unique experiences.”

A moment to be proud of
Some people find FEVER on Instagram before they ever walk in.
Seeing new people coming to the event because they saw the vibe on Instagram, watching them settle in during the night, and finally witnessing how the energy reaches them.”
