    Overview

Leeds West Indian Carnival is known for its stunning costumes, tropical rhythms, food and pure joy weaving through the streets. Created in 1966 to 1967 by Arthur France MBE, alongside Frankie Davis, Tony Lewis, Ian Charles and others, it became the first Caribbean-style street carnival in the UK. Yorkshire's brightest day is a full sensory experience — you can take part or take it in, but either way you will be amazed.
