Junkanoo 2027
Nassau, Bahamas
Junkanoo is The Bahamas' national street festival, in which costumed groups of dancers, drummers, cowbell ringers and brass players rush along Bay Street in downtown Nassau through the early hours of Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Groups compete with hand-made crepe-paper costumes, music and choreography, and UNESCO inscribed Junkanoo on its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2023.
